TRUMAN explores the intimacy and tenderness of a lifelong friendship headed towards its imminent end. Diagnosed with terminal cancer, Julian (Ricardo Darin, 2009’s Academy Award®-winning “The Secret in Their Eyes”) has decided to forgo treatment, and spend his final days tying up loose ends. When childhood friend Tomas (Javier Cámara, “Talk to Her”) pays his ailing friend an unexpected visit, he quickly realizes he won’t be able to change his mind. In what will be their final reunion, the two friends set out to finalize Julian’s funeral arrangements, settle his accounts and, most importantly, find a home for his beloved dog, Truman, in this heartfelt and surprisingly humorous film.

"This Spanish-Argentine drama (2015), set in Madrid and framed by a four-day visit from the actor's witty old friend (Javier Cámara), is pitch-perfect, its comic drollery rooted in character and its awkward, poignant good-byes credibly staged."
J.R. Jones - CHICAGO READER

"Gay's picture proves once again that one can construct a comedy out of such material, as long as one respects the subject matter and refrains from being gimmicky in order to feel edgy and cool."
Oktay Ege Kozak - INDIEWIRE

"It sounds paradoxical but, if done right, films about a life ending can be the most life-affirming films you'll see. TRUMAN, a great success in its native Spain, is definitely done right."
Kenneth Turan - LOS ANGELES TIMES

"The payoff is sneakily profound — sneakily because this small-scale drama grabs you when you least expect it, often with the help of the dog."
Joe Morgenstern - WALL STREET JOURNAL
